- עֲכַלch., Pa. עַכֵּל same. Targ. Job 20:18 Ms. Ithpa. אִיעַכֵּל to be consumed, burnt. Shebu.17b אי דלא הפיך ביה לא מִיעַכֵּל (v. Ms. M. in D. S. a. l. note) if without turning it, the sacrifice had not been consumed. Ib. אי לא הפיך בהו מִיעַכְּלֵי … מיעכל בהד שעתא if he had not turned them (the pieces), they would have been consumed in two hours, and now all of it was consumed in one hour.
